A Gift from Joe

We received a package from Joe today. He sent the 3 of us t-shirts that all the students bought for the basketball season. He also enclosed a hoodie for Miss E. Now, the best part of course and I know this was for Mom's benefit - a vote Obama ad from the Daily Tarheel. The election is over, it is now time for us to all be on board and support Obama - no matter how some of us voted!!!! We love you Joe, thanks for thinking of us - we can't wait to see you Thanksgiving!!!!

Fall Break 2008 - Elizabeth

This fall break was so much fun. Instead of going anywhere, we did sleepovers and shopping, sleepovers, shopping and threw in a little cleaning, more sleepovers and more shopping. We hit 3 malls in a course of 4 days. Who knew Charlotte could be this fun. Southpark was amazing. We experienced Nieman Marcus and wondered "who buys this stuff?" $6,800 synthetic fur sweater? It was fun. We only were able to shop probably 1/2 the mall. We were there 6 hours too!!!! Spending an hour in Delia's took up some time. I caught up on my reading as they shopped as I am not the shoppers they are - I am the driver. Hit Northlake on Sunday with MaMere to buy Elizabeth a winter coat and Tuesday we went to Concord Mills and tried on many clothes between Forever 21 and Group USA. Lots of pictures taken and fun had. Who says you can't go on vacation at home. This is not something I have done before - always felt a need to go to the beach or some where else but this was a way to stay close to home and save a bit of money. Believe it or not, only a pair of socks were bought during all the shopping (they got 10.00 gift cards for trying on something at Delia's and bought socks with it!!!) School starts back tomorrow ------

Election Day Nov. 4, 2008

As I sit here and watch the results, it makes me proud to be a part of this process. It's been really exciting with this year to watch Joe have so much enthusiasm for change with our country. He was a first time voter and that should always make us feel a sense of hope for the future. I also learned that Elizabeth is extremely interested in our country and knows more than I do about a few issues!!! I had an eye opening conversation with her about our country being in Iraq and what should be done and why she feels this way. With all the negative we can find about the internet and the information that can harm our children, I have also found that the good of it!!! They are able to read about things that are going on in our country. Hopefully, our country can be "fixed" in the next 4 years with a new leader. As of now it hasn't been decided.
